Industrial cooling and ventilation in Samarkand
Industry in Samarkand region is spread rather than concentrated, and the products are unusually tangible. The Samarkand Free Economic Zone anchors newer investment, the Samauto works assemble light commercial vehicles and buses on the Isuzu licence, and Urgut district to the south east holds one of the largest textile and garment clusters in the country, spinning and weaving cotton grown within sight of the mills. Ceramic and wall tile plants run along the Kattakurgan road, dried fruit and nut processing houses work through the autumn, and the wineries around the city are among the oldest in Central Asia. Tile kilns, paint lines, vehicle assembly bays and drying halls all put steady radiant heat into buildings that are already sitting under a 38 °C sky. Because the air outside is genuinely arid, treating it costs almost nothing compared with cooling it mechanically.
Samarkand climate — the honest version
Samarkand sits higher and drier than the capital, taking 36–39 °C afternoons on humidity that frequently drops under 20 percent, so a pad cooler here approaches its theoretical limit and returns 14 to 17 °C of drop, with cool nights that make morning ventilation alone worth planning for.
There is no sea access from either side of the border, so cargo moves Nhava Sheva to Bandar Abbas by ship, then overland through Turkmenistan and across to Samarkand · realistically 25 to 40 days door to door · road and rail tariffs are quoted per truck or per wagon, which rewards a single consolidated despatch.

Worth knowing locally
- Power is 380 V three phase 50 Hz, matching the Ayzair build standard, so nothing on the electrical side needs changing at the plant.
- Certification is national rather than Eurasian. Goods clear against an O‘z DSt certificate of conformity raised locally, supported by the CE declaration, IEC test reports and factory test certificate that travel with the shipment.
- Nights in Samarkand drop sharply even in July. Running exhaust fans overnight to flush a tile or ceramics building costs very little and means the coolers start the next day against a much lower shell temperature.

Ask on WhatsAppWould evaporative cooling damage stock in a dried fruit or nut plant?
It needs thought. Evaporative cooling adds moisture as it cools, which is unwelcome around finished dried product, so the coolers go over the sorting, grading and packing stations where people work, while the drying and storage rooms are kept on dehumidified or ambient air. HVLS fans and extraction are the safer answer directly above stored product.
What suits a tile plant where the kiln is the heat source?
Extraction first. Hammer exhaust fans from 900 mm to 1750 mm pull the kiln plume out through the gable before it spreads across the building. An HVLS fan then stops the residual heat sitting on the pressing and glazing lines, and duct coolers are placed over the sorting and packing area where operators stand all shift. Cooling the kiln hall itself is neither possible nor necessary.
Are portable coolers useful on a site like the Samauto assembly bays?
They are, for anything temporary or moving. The TENT-150 portable unit and the 370 W mobile floor fan suit a rework bay, an outdoor paint touch up area or a seasonal tent, where a fixed ducted installation cannot be justified. Most Samarkand buyers take a handful of portables alongside the fixed equipment so the shift supervisor can put cooling where it is needed that week.
