Strong fit

Industrial cooling & ventilation for Colombia

Few markets change climate as sharply over as short a distance as Colombia does, and the specification has to follow. Ayzair supplies HVLS fans and hammer exhaust fans for humid Caribbean and Valle del Cauca plants, greenhouse and warehouse airflow on the Bogotá savanna, and mill ventilation in Antioquia — all built with 60 Hz motors for 220 V or 380 V supply.

Climate suitability — the honest version

Determined by altitude — humid 30–35 °C on the Caribbean and Cauca lowlands, a steady 14–19 °C on the Bogotá savanna at 2,600 m, mild spring-like air in Medellín

It would be wrong to describe Colombia as a hot country. Barranquilla, Cartagena and Cali are hot and humid, so air movement and extraction are what deliver comfort there. Bogotá sits at 2,600 m and never really gets hot at all — its buildings need ventilation, greenhouse airflow and destratification in tall sheds, not cooling. Medellín’s Aburrá valley is mild year-round. We quote by altitude and city, and evaporative cooling is rarely the right answer anywhere in the country.

  • Supply in Colombia is 60 Hz at 220 V or 380 V. Since our production standard is a 50 Hz motor, Colombian units are wound to order for 60 Hz at your site voltage — a 50 Hz machine energised here would run roughly 20% fast, pull excess current and shorten bearing and winding life.
  • RETIE is the governing regulation for electrical installations, and your installer will be held to it. We supply wiring diagrams, nameplate data, test reports and CE, IEC, LVD and EMC certificates so the RETIE dossier for the installation can be assembled without chasing us for paperwork.
  • Altitude changes the fan selection: at 2,600 m on the Bogotá savanna the air is around 25% less dense, so volumetric airflow and motor loading are recalculated for the site rather than taken from sea-level catalogue figures.

Ask on WhatsApp
Do you recommend evaporative coolers for Bogotá?

No. Bogotá sits at about 2,600 m and averages roughly 14–19 °C all year, so there is no cooling problem to solve. What tall warehouses and greenhouses there do need is controlled air movement, destratification under high roofs and reliable extraction. We quote HVLS fans and hammer exhaust fans, sized for the thinner air at that altitude rather than sea-level ratings.

What works best on the Caribbean coast?

Barranquilla and Cartagena are hot and humid, which rules evaporative cooling out — the air already holds too much moisture for a wet pad to help. HVLS fans produce a steady floor-level breeze that makes humid heat tolerable, and hammer exhaust fans pull the accumulated heat and moisture out of the roof space of port warehouses and processing plants.

Can you supply ventilation for flower greenhouses?

Yes, and it is one of our clearest fits in Colombia. The savanna greenhouse belt around Bogotá needs consistent internal air movement to manage leaf temperature, humidity pockets and fungal risk. We supply hammer exhaust fans for through-ventilation and HVLS fans for gentle large-volume circulation, with 60 Hz motors specified for the local supply and RETIE documentation provided.
