Strong fit

Industrial cooling & ventilation for Peru

Peruvian agro-export has grown into a serious industry, and grape, blueberry and asparagus packhouses in Ica and La Libertad now run to schedules that punish any heat or ventilation failure. Ayzair supplies HVLS fans, ductable evaporative coolers for the dry northern and inland valleys, and hammer exhaust fans for processing halls, all built on 60 Hz motors for 220 V or 380 V.

Climate suitability — the honest version

Coastal desert with almost no rain — hot and dry 32–38 °C in Piura and inland Ica, but mild and persistently damp in Lima under the garúa sea fog

Peru needs explaining rather than generalising. The coast is a desert, yet Lima itself is one of the odder climates we supply: rainfall is negligible but the garúa fog keeps relative humidity high and temperatures moderate, so evaporative cooling underperforms there despite the surrounding sand. Move north to Piura or inland to the Ica valley and the air is genuinely hot and dry, where ductable evaporative coolers work well. We specify by valley, not by country.

  • Peruvian supply is 220 V single-phase and 380 V three-phase at 60 Hz. Our motors are manufactured as 50 Hz machines by default, so Peruvian units are ordered with 60 Hz windings for the site voltage — this is a build specification we set before production, not a field adjustment.
  • Coastal water in Ica and Piura is often saline or high in dissolved solids, which scales evaporative pads quickly. We specify pad grade, bleed rate and a cleaning interval for the actual water analysis, and will ask for one before quoting an evaporative system.
  • Sea transit to Callao runs 35–45 days, longer than most of our markets, so packhouse projects tied to a grape or blueberry season should place orders at least four months ahead of the harvest window.

Ask on WhatsApp
Peru is a desert, so why not evaporative cooling everywhere?

Because Lima breaks the rule. The Humboldt current drives the garúa, a low sea fog that holds coastal relative humidity high while keeping temperatures moderate, so the wet-bulb depression around Lima and Callao is small and an evaporative cooler achieves little. Piura, Chiclayo and inland Ica are a different matter — hot, dry and genuinely well suited to ductable evaporative units.

What suits an agro-export packhouse in Ica?

Usually a layered system. Ductable evaporative coolers handle the dry inland heat economically during the day, HVLS fans keep air moving across grading and packing lines where people stand for long shifts, and hammer exhaust fans clear heat and moisture from the building envelope. We size the mix around your shift pattern, building volume and how much of the floor is refrigerated.

What electrical supply do you build for Peru?

Peru runs at 60 Hz, typically 220 V single-phase and 380 V three-phase, whereas our standard product is a 50 Hz machine. Every Peruvian unit is therefore built to order with a 60 Hz motor at the correct voltage, since a 50 Hz motor on 60 Hz power turns about 20% faster and draws more current than its nameplate allows. Nameplates and diagrams ship matched to the build.
