Industrial cooling and ventilation in Lima
Peru concentrates its industry in Lima, and the city spreads that industry along the Pan American highway in both directions. Callao around the port and airport carries fishmeal, container logistics and heavy handling, Ate Vitarte to the east holds food processing, beverages and pharmaceutical plants, and Villa El Salvador built its reputation on furniture, plastics and metal workshops. To the south, Lurín and Chilca have become the growth belt for large distribution centres and new food and packaging plants, while the Zona Industrial Argentina retains older textile mills and printers closer in. Temperatures rarely reach extremes, but the coast carries a peculiar trap: it almost never rains, which tempts buyers into assuming dry air, while the garúa fog keeps the atmosphere near saturation for half the year. Anyone specifying evaporative equipment for Lima on the strength of rainfall figures alone will be disappointed by the result.
Lima climate — the honest version
Lima is a coastal desert that records almost no rainfall yet stays damp for months beneath the garúa, a low sea fog that holds relative humidity between 80 and 95 percent through winter, so the air is arid by rainfall and saturated by measurement, which severely limits evaporative cooling.
Callao is served from Nhava Sheva in 35 to 45 days with transhipment through Asia or Panama, and the Ate, Villa El Salvador and Lurín estates all sit within a two hour truck run of the terminal.

Worth knowing locally
- Peru supplies 220 V single phase and 380 V three phase at 60 Hz, so the winding, the starter and any variable speed drive for a Lima order are specified for 60 Hz at the time the order is placed.
- Imports clear through SUNAT and electrical goods are expected to carry recognised international test reports, so the CE, IEC, LVD and EMC file travels with the certificate of origin in every container.
- The garúa season from June to November coats equipment in fine damp salt, so outdoor mounted extractors and cooler cabinets for Lima take the coastal finish and a quarterly wash down is written into the handover notes.

Ask on WhatsAppLima is a desert, so why is evaporative cooling weak here?
Rainfall and humidity are different measurements. Lima receives almost no rain, yet the garúa fog rolling off the cold Humboldt current holds relative humidity between 80 and 95 percent for much of the year. Evaporative cooling depends on dry air rather than dry ground, so on the coast itself the effect is small. Inland Ica and northern Piura are a different story entirely.
Which equipment suits a Villa El Salvador workshop?
Workshops there are usually medium height with mixed processes, so a 12 ft or 16 ft ceiling fan over the main floor plus wall mounted Hammer extractors above welding, sanding or moulding stations covers most cases. Where a crew works one bench for a full shift the 370 W mobile floor fan is added for spot air at the point of work.
How long is the sea route from India to Callao?
Between 35 and 45 days, because there is no direct service and boxes tranship through Asia or through Panama depending on the carrier. With 10 to 20 working days of manufacture and clearance at Callao on top, buyers who want equipment running for the January to March heat should place orders by September or October.
