Industrial cooling and ventilation in Valencia

The Valencian industrial belt runs in an arc around the city and out along the motorways. Almussafes, south of the city, is built around the Ford assembly plant and the parc de proveïdors beside it, where seat, dashboard, stamping and logistics operations run to the line sequence. Ribarroja del Túria and the Riba-roja logistics parks handle distribution for eastern Spain, with high bay units that fill with heat under a summer roof. Paterna and the Fuente del Jarro estate hold furniture, plastics, food and light engineering, and Sagunto to the north carries steel and energy plant. An hour up the coast, the Castellón tile cluster at Onda, Villarreal and Alcora forms the largest ceramic concentration in Europe, with kilns that need extraction rather than cooling. Given the coastal humidity, we lead with air movement and extraction here and use duct coolers only inland or on covered outdoor areas.

Valencia climate — the honest version

Valencia is a Mediterranean coastal city and its summer humidity of 60 to 70 percent at 32–35 °C matters more than the temperature, because that damp air leaves an evaporative cooler only four or five degrees of useful drop, well short of what the same machine achieves an hour inland.

Valencia is the largest container port in the western Mediterranean and takes Indian boxes in about 17 to 23 days from Nhava Sheva · Almussafes, Ribarroja and Paterna are each within half an hour of the terminal gate.

Who buys here

Industries in Valencia.

  • Automotive assembly and supply
  • Ceramic tile and frit production
  • Citrus and fresh produce packing
  • Furniture and wood products
  • Logistics and port distribution
  • Plastics, packaging and light engineering

Worth knowing locally

  • Supply is 400 V three phase 50 Hz as across Spain, matching the motor windings as built, so equipment connects directly without a transformer or any rewind.
  • CE marking under the EU Machinery Directive applies, and the automotive supplier park at Almussafes normally requires the declaration of conformity and IP55 rating on file before a fan is accepted above a line, as part of its plant standard.
  • The citrus packing season runs from October into spring, so packhouses here prefer installation in summer when the halls are empty rather than during the campaign when every square metre is stacked with bins.

Ask on WhatsApp
Why does evaporative cooling underperform in Valencia?

The sea keeps summer humidity around 60 to 70 percent, which leaves very little wet bulb depression for the pads to exploit. The realistic drop is four or five degrees, against twelve in Madrid or Zaragoza. We say so before quoting, because a buyer expecting Madrid performance on the Valencian coast will be disappointed and the machine will be blamed unfairly.

What works in a Ribarroja distribution warehouse instead?

Large diameter ceiling fans over the pick faces and dispatch lanes, with wall extraction at high level to remove the hot layer that builds under an uninsulated roof. The perceived temperature reduction from moving air is five to seven degrees, it costs 1.5 kW per fan, and it adds no moisture to cardboard or labelled goods.

What do the Castellón tile plants use?

Extraction, and plenty of it. Roller kilns and spray dryers throw a sustained thermal load into the building, so large hammer exhaust fans on the high wall against low level inlets pull that layer out continuously. HVLS fans then serve the sorting, grading and palletising areas where people work all shift beside the fired product.
