Industrial cooling and ventilation in Tijuana
We would rather be straight about Tijuana than oversell it. This is not a deep cooling market. It is the largest maquiladora cluster in Mexico, with medical device manufacture concentrated in Otay Mesa and Parque Industrial Pacífico, electronics and television assembly spread through El Florido, plastics moulding and metal stamping across the Nordika estates, and aerospace subcontract work feeding San Diego programmes. Buildings are typically single storey, tightly packed with people and equipment, and ventilated more by habit than by design. What operators complain about is stale, warm air over an assembly line, moulding machines throwing heat into an aisle, and a solvent or adhesive smell that lingers. The fix is air movement and proper extraction rather than refrigeration or evaporative cooling. Large ceiling fans over open assembly floors, exhaust fans sized on real air changes, and mobile units for hot spots cover almost every enquiry we get here.
Tijuana climate — the honest version
Tijuana has a Mediterranean coastal climate that seldom passes 30 °C, with dry summers, humidity usually between 50 and 65 percent off the Pacific and cool nights, so the heat inside a maquiladora comes from machinery, ovens, lighting and crowding far more than from the weather outside.
Most Tijuana bound equipment enters through Long Beach at 30 to 38 days from Nhava Sheva, then 200 km by road and the Otay Mesa commercial crossing · Manzanillo at 32 to 40 days avoids US transit but adds a long coastal haul, and Ensenada suits buyers already importing through Baja.

Worth knowing locally
- Baja California plants sit on 220 V or 440 V three phase at 60 Hz, and some Otay Mesa buildings mirror the 480 V practice used across the border. Our motors ship at 50 Hz as standard, so Tijuana orders are manufactured specifically with 60 Hz windings at the agreed voltage.
- NOM compliance applies, with NOM-003-SCFI the relevant electrical safety standard, certified in Mexico through an accredited body. Equipment moving under IMMEX or shelter arrangements still needs it, so we prepare the file with the importer of record rather than assuming the programme exempts the shipment.
- Ceiling heights in older Tijuana naves are often only 6 to 7 m, which rules out the largest fan diameters. Send a section drawing with the enquiry so we select a size that leaves proper clearance above the blades and still gives even floor coverage.

Supplying Tijuana — common questions

Ask on WhatsAppIs the heat in Tijuana bad enough to justify cooling equipment?
Rarely, and we say so. Summer ambient here sits in the high twenties, which is mild compared with Monterrey or Phoenix. The problem inside a packed assembly plant is internal gain and poor air change, not outdoor temperature. Air movement and extraction address that at far lower capital and running cost than any cooling system, so that is what we quote.
What fan size suits a 6 m high assembly floor?
Usually 12 to 16 ft rather than the larger diameters. At 6 m clear height a very large fan leaves too little space above the blade and can produce uneven air speed across the floor. Two or three medium fans spread along the bay give a steadier result. We size from a floor plan and section, allowing for lighting, sprinklers and conveyor runs.
Can extraction handle solvent and adhesive fumes on a line?
It handles general dilution and heat removal well. Point source fume from adhesives or soldering should be captured locally at the bench and ducted out, with our Hammer fans or Inline-Jet duct fans providing the extract duty. Building wide exhaust then keeps the background concentration down. We supply the fans and airflow data; the capture hood design stays with your process engineer.
