Industrial cooling and ventilation in Naples

Southern Italy’s industry concentrates in a ring across the plain behind Vesuvius. Interporto Campano at Nola and the CIS wholesale complex beside it form one of the largest distribution platforms in the Mediterranean, with hundreds of high bay units handling goods for the whole south. Pomigliano d’Arco holds the Stellantis assembly plant and the aerospace works next to it, Acerra adds heavy engineering, chemicals and energy plant, and Marcianise and Caivano carry white goods, packaging and third party logistics. Around all of it sits the tomato belt, where San Marzano canning lines run flat out through a short late summer campaign in buildings full of steam from blanchers and sterilisers. That mixture calls for three different answers: bulk air movement over the vast Nola picking floors, serious extraction where canning steam and paint fume are produced, and duct cooling where inland dryness makes it genuinely effective.

Naples climate — the honest version

Campania runs hotter and rather drier than the north, with July and August at 34–37 °C and humidity often falling to 40 or 45 percent in the afternoon away from the bay, so evaporative cooling recovers some ground inland at Nola and Marcianise while the coastal strip stays too damp for it.

Naples and Salerno both take Indian boxes in about 16 to 22 days from Nhava Sheva · Nola, Acerra and Marcianise are all within forty five minutes of either quay on the ring motorway.

Who buys here

Industries in Naples.

  • Tomato canning and food processing
  • Logistics for southern Italy
  • Packaging and white goods
  • Chemicals and heavy engineering

Worth knowing locally

  • Campanian industrial supply is 400 V three phase 50 Hz, identical to the motor specification as built, so no rewind, transformer or frequency change is involved.
  • CE marking under the EU Machinery Directive covers the import, and the aerospace and automotive plants here normally add their own incoming inspection against the declaration of conformity, wiring schedule and IP55 certification before a unit reaches the roof.
  • The tomato campaign runs from late July to September and nothing can be installed in a canning plant during it, so equipment for those lines is ordered in the spring and fitted in May or June.

Ask on WhatsApp
Does evaporative cooling work better at Nola than near the bay?

Somewhat. Twenty kilometres inland the afternoon air often drops to 40 percent humidity and a duct cooler returns seven or eight degrees, which is useful over a fixed picking station. Nearer the coast at Naples the sea air stays damper and the same unit gives perhaps four, so we lead with fans there and use coolers selectively.

What suits a San Marzano canning line in the Agro?

Extraction first. Blanchers, sterilisers and hot filling throw large volumes of steam that condense on roof steel and drip onto product below. Wall mounted hammer exhaust fans sized on the steam load clear that plume, and HVLS fans over the sorting and labelling positions keep operators comfortable through a campaign that runs fourteen hours a day.

Can equipment be delivered to a plant during the August shutdown?

Yes, though it needs planning. Italian works commonly close for two weeks around mid August, so goods must clear customs and reach site before the gates shut, or be warehoused until reopening. We normally aim for arrival in the first half of July, which leaves time for clearance, haulage and for the fitters to book the shutdown window before the works empties.
