The Santiago basin concentrates most of Chile’s industry into a ring of estates west and north of the city. Pudahuel and the ENEA business park sit beside the airport and carry air freight handling, pharmaceutical storage and light manufacture. Quilicura is dense with food, beverage and packaging plants, Lampa has taken newer large format distribution buildings, and San Bernardo keeps metalworking, wire, and vehicle body work alongside the rail yards. Retail fulfilment has grown quickly and now fills several very large sheds that were farmland a decade ago. Summer work here is hot and dusty rather than sticky, which is precisely the condition evaporative cooling was designed for. Santiago climate — the honest version
Santiago summers run 33–35 °C from December to February with afternoon humidity dropping to 20 to 30 percent in the basin and sharp overnight cooling from the Andes, which is close to an ideal evaporative profile and gives pad coolers a 12 to 14 °C drop through the whole export season.
San Antonio is the working port at 35 to 45 days from Nhava Sheva, usually transhipping through Asia or Panama, then Santiago is 110 km by road on Route 78 and delivered within a day of clearance · Valparaíso serves the same corridor with a slightly longer inland leg.

Worth knowing locally
- Chilean supply is 220 V single phase and 380 V three phase at 60 Hz. We build to 50 Hz unless the order states otherwise, so Santiago equipment is made against the contract with 60 Hz motors at 220 or 380 V as required.
- Electrical products sold or installed in Chile require SEC approval from the Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles, obtained through an authorised certification laboratory. We supply the test evidence and technical file and coordinate with the importer so the certificate is issued before installation.
- The packing and export season concentrates demand between November and March. With 10 to 20 days of production and roughly six weeks at sea, an order placed in July arrives with time for installation and commissioning before the first heavy week.

Because the basin is dry in the months that matter. At 34 °C and 25 percent humidity the wet bulb is near 20 °C, which leaves room for a genuine 12 to 14 °C drop on supply air. The same equipment on the Chilean coast would achieve far less. Altitude and low night humidity also mean pads dry out between shifts, which extends their life.
What does SEC approval involve and who arranges it?
SEC approval covers electrical safety for products connected to the Chilean grid, and it is granted on the basis of testing at a laboratory authorised by the Superintendencia. In practice Ayzair supplies the technical file, test reports and conformity documents, and the importer or a local agent files the application. We quote the certification cost and timeline separately in every Chilean offer.
Can coolers be used over a fruit or wine packing line?
Yes, and it is one of the better applications here. Ducted evaporative air is delivered over sorting tables and packing benches where people stand for long shifts, rather than into the fruit itself. Where product moisture matters, the ducts are positioned to serve the operator side of the line and airflow is set so the cooled stream does not blow directly across open product.
