Industrial cooling and ventilation in Recife
Pernambuco rebuilt its industrial base around a port rather than around a city centre. The Suape Port Industrial Complex, some thirty kilometres south of Recife, holds a refinery, a shipyard, petrochemical and polymer plants, wind tower fabrication and a growing cluster of food and beverage lines, all served by berths deep enough for the largest vessels calling in the north east. Cabo de Santo Agostinho and Jaboatão dos Guararapes carry the supporting metalworking, packaging and distribution units, while Goiana to the north has added vehicle assembly and pharmaceutical manufacture that pulled component suppliers along with it. Sugar and ethanol mills still work the zona da mata inland. Buildings out here are large, hot and close to open water, and salt rules out cheap sheet steel fittings. The sensible specification is overhead air movement across production floors, wall extraction wherever heat or fume is generated, and mobile fans for maintenance crews.
Recife climate — the honest version
Recife holds 28–32 °C with relative humidity between 70 and 85 percent for most of the year and a long wet season running from March to July, so evaporative cooling delivers little on this coast and the practical gain comes from high air change and constant overhead air movement.
Suape takes vessels from Nhava Sheva in 28 to 35 days, and because the industrial complex is built around the berths, most consignees move a released container to site within the hour rather than the day · FOB · CIF · CFR

Worth knowing locally
- Pernambuco supplies 220 V and 380 V at 60 Hz. Motors leave Pune wound for 60 Hz service, because running a 50 Hz machine on this network would lift shaft speed and current beyond the nameplate values.
- INMETRO registration, the import licence and Brazilian duty and tax add genuine weeks and genuine cost to a consignment, so a first time importer in Pernambuco should appoint a despachante before the container sails rather than after it berths.
- Suape is an exposed Atlantic berth with a heavy salt load, so casings, guards and brackets for Recife orders are galvanised or powder coated and fasteners are supplied in stainless steel.

Ask on WhatsAppDoes the Recife coast suit evaporative cooling?
Only marginally. Humidity here stays at 70 to 85 percent through most of the year, which leaves very little wet bulb depression, so a duct cooler is quoted for Pernambuco as a fresh air unit rather than as a cooling one. The temperature people actually feel improves through ceiling fans and through extracting the heat that stacks up under the roof sheets.
Can a container be landed directly at Suape?
Yes. Suape takes direct calls from Nhava Sheva in 28 to 35 days and the industrial complex surrounds the terminal, so plants at Ipojuca and Cabo de Santo Agostinho face a very short inland leg. Goiana and the Recife suburbs sit one to two hours further along the road once release has been granted.
How is equipment protected against salt at the port complex?
Coastal orders ship with galvanised or powder coated casings, stainless fasteners and motors rated for a higher ingress class, the same build used for Gulf and West African berths. Where a fan sits on a seaward wall the guard and mounting frame are upgraded further, and washdown intervals are written into the commissioning notes.
